Apprenticeship

This beginner-level course focuses on learning permanent eyebrow and eyeliner procedures. The training includes both theoretical and practical instruction in the following areas:

  • Introduction to Tattooing & Permanent Makeup (PMU)

  • Tattoo Devices & Needles

  • Safe Tattooing Practices & Techniques

  • Skin and Eye Anatomy

  • Muscles of the Face

  • Choosing the Right Clients

  • Pigment Testing & Tattooing

  • Client History Documentation

  • Photography for Tattoo Documentation

  • Identifying Skin Undertones

  • Working with Fitzpatrick IV-VI Skin Types

  • Traditional Color Theories & Selecting Colorants

  • Basic Morphology & Placement

  • Procedure Overview & Techniques

  • Pain Management & Anesthesia

  • The Healing Process

  • Solar Care & Prevention of Color Fading

  • Medical Conditions & Tattooing

  • MRI Safety and Tattooin

  • Aesthetic Principles for Tattooing

  • Infection Control in the Tattoo Industry

 

Additional Training:
Once you complete the beginner course, you will have the option to pursue additional training for lip procedures. Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a certificate of completion for the appropriate training.

 

Course Fee
The apprenticeship and training course is $15,000 with a $5000 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit 2 weeks prior to training. The remaining balance will be required BEFORE we begin clinicals

  • Tattoo machine

  • Two pigments

  • A training textbook and workbook

  • Sufficient needles and supplies for the training

Important Notes:

  • SNPC - Institute is NOT responsible for providing your models for clinicals.  We will help where we can but ultimately it is the students responsibility. 

  • SNPC - Institute is not responsible for models who do not show up or cancel their appointments. If this happens and all required models are not completed, you will need to reschedule your practical applications.

  • Students will perform a total of 50 supervised procedures:

    • 25 eyeliner procedures

    • 25 eyebrow procedures

    • A minimum of 300 hours of training, including 50 hours with support staff, as required by the state of Missouri.

    • If tips are received, they will be compensated via a 1099 form.

  • Optional lip training is available after completing basic training. The additional cost for 4 supervised lip procedures is $4,800. Each additional lip model is $400, regardless of who covers the fee.

 

Before Class Requirements

  • Bloodborne Pathogens training

  • First Aid and CPR certification

  • Hepatitis B vaccination

  • Tuition balance due on or before the first day of training

 

Training Structure

  • The training will consist of lectures and practical instruction.

  • You are required to read the manual and complete the at-home study portion of the course.

  • Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP) training must be completed prior to the start of the course. The BBP class can be completed online at www.spcp.org. If you do not have internet access, you can call 866-333-1092 for alternate locations.

  • The curriculum will also cover sterilization, setup, marketing, and safe procedures.

  • Hepatitis B vaccinations are strongly recommended before training, as required by the St. Louis County Health Department.

 

What to Bring to Each Training Session​

  • Training Manual (provided 14 days prior to your class)

  • Pre-Class Certifications and Course Work

  • Magnifying glass (even if you have perfect vision)

 

Training Attire & Expectations

  • Arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled start time.

  • Hair must be pulled back and secured.

  • Scrubs are recomended

 

Licensing Requirements

  • In Missouri, a total of 300 hours and 50 completed supervised procedures are required to obtain a tattoo license.

  • If you plan to practice in a state other than Missouri, you are responsible for verifying your state's licensing requirements before attending the course.
